Awesome stock photography - 30 free photos and a discount for Xara customers!High quality stock photos can make a huge difference to the quality of your work. Traditionally it's been expensive and restrictive, but recently we came across iStockphoto, and have been using them ourselves.
iStockphoto is the world's largest community-powered image marketplace, where the best stock starts at just $1 each. Thousands of new photographs, Vector illustrations, and Flash files are added every week. So this is right down our street in terms of pricing. Low enough to be within easy reach of all Xara users, both home and professional.
What's more iStockphoto are Xara fans. Check out the thread on their forums about using Xara - some iStockphoto contributors have recently discovered Xara Xtreme and they're blown away by it!
So we've partnered with iStockphoto to give away 30 of their best royalty-free photos for free to registered Xara customers (from a pre-selection of 60), which would be worth up to $150 if you downloaded the highest resolution version. This arrangement is exclusive to Xara customers (if you received our Xara Outsider newsletter then that means you).
And that's not the end of it. We've also negotiated a 20% discount for any new iStockphoto customer placing a first order of $50 or more of iStockphotos. Bear in mind that with other photo services you can easily pay $50 for a single photo (we have in the past) - well, on iStockphoto this could buy you 50 different photos!

To access the free images you just need to sign up to iStock (there's no cost and it only takes a few seconds). And once you've joined you can access their great image search engine.
One of the best things about iStockphoto is that it's a community of thousands of different contributors. That means anyone can submit photos and be paid a royalty for every image downloaded. But don't imagine this means large numbers of low quality images, because the good people at iStockphoto vet every single image and only let in the best, so in practice the image quality appears to be really high, across the board.
And at just $1 a picture for a typical 800x600 sized image (which is good enough for screen and web use and even for hi-res print use of a couple of inches) the prices are just outstanding. These guys appear to be revolutionising stock photography.
So we like them a lot. Check them out...
