Example backdrop no. 1

This is a simple, plain backdrop. The image itself is one pixel high, but the browser seamlessly tiles it down the page. Because it is only a two colour GIF, it is actually only 123 bytes long.

Note that the backdrop deliberately uses two non-dithering colours from the 216 colour cube. If it did not, the dithering on the backdrop would show up as vertical stripes, because each row would use an identical dither pattern. If your backdrop uses colours that will dither, it will look better if it is ten or more pixels high.

You can download the Xara Web file used to create this backdrop (519 bytes). If you have the plug-in, the file will be displayed in your browser (and it will look like a very thin line); right-click over the file and use 'Save Graphic as...' to save it to disc from the plug-in. If you don't have the plug-in, clicking on the link should prompt you to save the file to disc as normal.
