Rotating Objects around a Point

You can rotate an object around any point, not just its center.

  1. Select the object you want to rotate.
  2. Click on the selected object to put the selection handles into Rotate/Skew mode.
  3. Drag the transformation center from the middle of the object to the point you want to rotate the object around.
  4. Drag the rotate handles as normal.

Dropping Rotated Copies of Objects

When you rotate an object, you can drop copies of it as you rotate it.

  1. Select the object you want to rotate.
  2. Click on the selected object to put the selection handles in Rotate/Skew mode.
  3. Start to drag one of the rotate handles and keep the mouse button held down.
  4. Rotate to the position where you want to drop a copy and press and release the right mouse button.

Rotating Objects Without Rotating their Fill

You can rotate an object so that the fill in the object stays still. You can see in this picture, the polygon has been rotated, but the bricks have stayed still.

  1. Select the object you want to rotate.
  2. Click on the selected object to put the selection handles in Rotate/Skew mode.
  3. Start to drag one of the rotate handles and keep the mouse button held down.
  4. Press and release the ' - ' key on the number keypad.
  5. Carry on rotating and release the mouse button when the object is at the right angle.
