![]() Now you can edit your bevel - the depth, contrast, light angle and elevation - interactively on screen without having to open any new menus or dialogs. For example you can increase the depth of the bevel and light angle by dragging the arrows: ![]() But you can also control the bevel depth, the light angle, the contrast, or light elevation (think of the light elevation as the position of the sun overhead). The image changes on-screen in realtime as you move the slider. ![]() You can also choose whether you want an outer or an inner bevel. Inner displays the bevel inside the object, the size of the object remains the same. Outer displays the bevel outside the object and makes it bigger. ![]() As you can see I have changed the color of the bevel to a different shade of blue. To change the color of the bevel simply select the bevel, then select the new color from the color line at the bottom of the page. You can apply a graduated color fill or for that matter a transparency across the bevel as well, just like any other object. And you can change the corner shapes of the bevel - mitered, round or beveled. ![]() The examples in this tutorial are very simple just to demonstrate the point, but take a look at this Groucho image to see what a professional can achieve - the effective use of bevels (and shadows) has made it look almost 3D. Here is another image which makes extensive use of bevels. |
